Matthew A. Lyons

Matthew A. Lyons is a Principal and Designated Broker with The Hogan Group. His practice focuses on retail, office, commercial land, and industrial properties. Matthew also works with national and regional retailers on site selection and advises private and institutional investors, family offices, developers, and owner-users on commercial real estate strategy and transactions.

Matthew approaches brokerage differently because he has spent his career on both sides of the table. After beginning his career with Grubb & Ellis in Phoenix, he joined a regional developer in an in-house role, gaining hands-on experience in acquisitions, entitlements, leasing, financing, construction, and dispositions. He has also personally developed commercial real estate, giving him firsthand insight into the decisions, risks, and opportunities faced by owners and developers.

That perspective is central to Matthew's approach. He is particularly drawn to complicated, unusual, and off-market opportunities and looks beyond the conventional way a property has been presented. By identifying alternative uses, redevelopment potential, creative deal structures and other ways to create value, he helps clients see opportunities in properties they may have previously overlooked.

Matthew's primary focus is Arizona, with additional experience throughout the Southern United States through transactional advisory and consulting assignments. He is an honors graduate of Florida State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Real Estate in 2000.

Outside of real estate, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Jim Tipton

Jim Tipton is a land broker and development advisor with more than two decades of experience in land acquisition, disposition, entitlement strategy, and complex development transactions.

Jim began his commercial real estate career with Hogan & Associates, Inc. in 2004, focusing on land brokerage for homebuilders, lot developers, and land investors. During the Phoenix real estate downturn, he expanded his work into Texas, assisting investors with the acquisition of residential, industrial, and commercial land in the Dallas–Fort Worth market.

He has been with The Hogan Group since its formation in 2009. In the firm’s early years, much of his work focused on transactions involving private investors and bank-owned real estate.

Today, Jim focuses primarily on Maricopa and Pinal Counties, drawing on market knowledge and industry relationships throughout Arizona. His experience spans residential land and lots, master-planned communities, farmland, water rights, build-to-rent and multifamily sites, industrial and retail land, data center and energy projects, speculative land, and other specialized real estate assets.

Jim has represented and advised homebuilders, developers, real estate investment firms, financial institutions, municipalities, agricultural operators, family offices, business owners, and private landowners.

Jim evaluates land opportunities through the factors that shape each transaction: location, infrastructure, entitlements, market conditions, and each client’s objectives. Drawing on experience across property types and market cycles, he helps clients navigate acquisitions and dispositions.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from Arizona State University in 2003. He is a member of the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona.

James Hotis

James graduated from Arizona State University in 1989 and began his real estate career in asset management and disposition for the Resolution Trust Corporation in 1991. He joined Metropolitan Land Co. in 1994 and Hogan & Associates in 1999. James is skilled in all facets of land sales and development, and as a long time Valley broker, has facilitated numerous transactions including raw desert, farmland, and improved / partially improved land suitable for commercial, industrial, and master planned community development.

Jeff Beach

Jeff graduated from the University of Arizona in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. He began his career at Grubb & Ellis before joining Hogan & Associates. His brokerage work has focused on residential and commercial land for lot developers, homebuilders and land buyers.
