Alter Group to develop $36M distribution center in Phoenix

The Alter Group is developing a $36 million, 605,700-square foot warehouse and distribution center as a spec project at a site it owns in Phoenix. The project at the Buckeye Logistics Center at Buckeye Road and 67th Avenue in Phoenix will break ground in October. The Alter Group is talking with partners about raising the capital and underwriting on the center, and is developing it because of the dearth of such centers with more than 500,000 square feet. “The West Valley has become one of the top areas in the southwest part of the United States for the development of large warehouse facilities to store, package and ship consumer goods ordered via the Internet,” said Patrick Gallagher, senior vice president of the Alter Group. The logistics center has buildings totaling 1.7 million square feet and is home to an Amazon.com fulfillment center that occupies more than 1 million square feet, as well as a Kellogg’s distribution center. The new building will have 32-foot ceilings as well as 112 docks and parking for 173 trailers and 324 cars.
