Arizona's unemployment rate falls to 8.9%
Arizona's employment and unemployment numbers improved significantly in November, offering the state most battered by job losses hope that the labor markets are starting to recover.
The unemployment rate dropped to 8.9 percent in November, its lowest level in five months, from 9.3 percent in October, the Arizona Department of Commerce said Thursday.
Experts caution that it's too early to say how much of the improvement is real progress or a result of typical holiday and winter hires. Although some economists believe Arizona's job market hit bottom this summer, it remains a long way from recovery.
