City hall groundbreaking Saturday

The city of Maricopa will hold a groundbreaking for its permanent City Complex 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The first phase of this complex includes construction of the 45,000-square-foot Maricopa City Hall and the 11,000-square-foot Maricopa Police Station, both anticipated to reach completion before the end of 2013. The facilities will be built on 10 acres of city-owned property on the northeast corner of Bowlin and White and Parker roads. The estimated cost to build the new city hall is $15.4 million, and the cost for a new police station is pegged at $3.4 million. Mayor Anthony Smith said a city hall is an important feature for any city wanting to be recognized as a place of achievement.
