Infrastructure bill an example of working together

Senate Bill 1442 has generally flown below the radar this legislative session, but it's an important change that could make it easier for cities to make costly public infrastructure improvements. The bill aims to help recruit and retain major manufacturers that offer high-wage jobs but also require sizable infrastructure improvements to expand their production capabilities. Cities have typically shouldered the costs for those projects, often relying on taxpayer-backed bonds to widen roads and install larger pipes. SB 1442 would allow manufacturers that make hefty capital investments to use a majority of the construction sales tax their projects generate to pay for needed water, sewer and road improvements. In other words, it's based on the idea that growth should pay for itself.
