Brewer vetoes bill calling for return of federal lands to Arizona
Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill that would have called on the federal government to return all of its lands in Arizona to the state within the next few years.
The Washington Post reports Brewer vetoed the bill in part because of concerns about people who had existing leases on federal lands and what a change might mean to them.
The veto leaves Utah as the only state that has made the request of returning federal land to state hands.
