Phoenix developers make new push for tax breaks

Barron Collier Co. and Ryan Cos. are expected to go after government property excise lease taxes, or GPLETs, and other financial assistance from the city of Phoenix for their proposed development planned for the parking between Collier Center and CityScape downtown. GPLET tax breaks have been less common since the recession squelched development and financing, and legislative changes scaled back cities’ use of developer-friendly tax breaks.
