Phoenix streamlines development process

The Phoenix City Council recently approved several programs aimed at streamlining the development process. The approvals include expansion of the Adaptive Reuse Program, a self-certification program for building plan review, code changes to make it easier to jump start stalled projects, and an action plan to enhance the consistency among city inspectors. “We’re in the early stages of this and it was hard to put this together to sound like the bang it is for the buck,” said Phoenix spokesman Michael Hammett. The new regulations will allow developers of stalled projects to reconvene the building process without having to resubmit new fees and go through certain processes again. “On a big project it can save a lot of money,” Hammett said.
