LA builder joins team for Mesa's Eastmark
Bernards, a commercial builder based in Los Angeles, has been named one of several general contractors for Eastmark, a massive, planned mixed-use development in Mesa.
Mike Rock, vice president of Bernards' Phoenix office, will oversee the grading operations of the first 11 neighborhoods in a 2,400-acre, multi-phase project, a Bernards representative said.
Eastmark master developer DMB Associates Inc., based in Scottsdale, along with four of the first-phase builders, selected Bernards for the large, sustainable project partly due to the company's previous relationship with Rock, a LEED-accredited contractor who recently joined Bernards.
Formerly known as Mesa Proving Grounds, Eastmark encompasses 3,200 acres near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and will blend residential, retail, tourism, recreation and employment into one destination, according to DMB.
