Federal grants help get people into homes
The housing crisis that rocked Phoenix posed an opportunity for Abla Zumot Najjar.
She finally was able to move into a home of her own.
She qualified for a $131,900 mortgage loan made possible by a nearly $40 million federal grant given to Phoenix for a Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The city program works to rid neighborhoods of abandoned, foreclosed properties through acquisition, rehabilitation, demolition, redevelopment and financial incentives.
