Housing permits spike in Gilbert, Queen Creek

Gilbert and Queen Creek saw big upward spikes in the number of single-family housing permits issued in the first two months of 2010, in large part due to tax credits that end Friday. Gilbert's 260 permits during the first two months of the year were up dramatically over 81 during the same period last year. Queen Creek saw a less dramatic year-over-year jump: from 9 to 37. "I think that it's been obvious for some time that the Southeast Valley in general has been leading the housing recovery in the region," said Arizona housing analyst RL or Brown.
