Goodyear City Council OKs raising, creating service fees

Goodyear is raising or creating a total of 255 fees on July 1 to cover the cost of providing services. The City Council on Monday adopted the fees, expected to generate $350,000 in fiscal 2011, said Terri Canada, Goodyear's budget manager. The fees - 50 of them new - raise the cost of doing business with the city for builders, vendors and restaurants, as well as the cost to participate in sports or hold an event in Goodyear. However, a statewide moratorium on impact fee increases applies to residential and commercial building fees. Goodyear officials said current fees were largely outdated, with the last user-fee study done in 1996.
