Gov. Jan Brewer privatizes economic development efforts
Gov. Jan Brewer is privatizing Arizona's business attraction and economic development efforts with a new group whose board includes pro sports owners, corporate executives and real estate developers.
Brewer officially established the Arizona Commerce Authority Tuesday and is putting $10 million toward the new group. The ACA will take over economic development and business recruitment duties from the state's economic agency, the Arizona Department of Commerce. Brewer announced a corporate- and real estate-oriented board of directors to run ACA. The group does not yet have a paid staff or CEO.
