Developer submits plans to Scottsdale for eco-resort
Developer Lyle Anderson submitted plans to Scottsdale for a resort adjacent to the Golf Club Scottsdale.
He is seeking a rezoning to accommodate the eco-resort at the Reserve, designed to allow guests to immerse themselves in the Sonoran desert. It would include 180 hotel rooms, 127 villas and 17 residences on 213 acres northwest of 122nd Street and Dynamite Boulevard.
Anderson's plan, unveiled two months ago, has drawn support from a key citizens group.
Bob Vairo, Coalition of Pinnacle Peak president, said the group supports the resort but is reserving judgment until it reviews final plans for the project.
"It looks promising from what we've seen," said Vairo, adding that the high-end resort would include low-scale buildings of no more than two levels.
The coalition is concerned that the rezoning would allow more density on the property, Vairo said.
Anderson had planned large home sites on the property before the housing market collapsed.
On the eco-resort grounds, the homes would be smaller, 3,000 to 4,000 square feet, and blend in to the desert surroundings, Anderson said.
