Fulton Homes negotiates out of $250K due Queen Creek
Cash-strapped Fulton Homes will not pay the entire $500,000 balance of its $3 million pledge to Queen Creek in exchange for the town not annexing Fulton's planned subdivision just outside town limits.
In a 6-0 vote, the Town Council voted Wednesday night to accept a staggered settlement requested by the Tempe-based homebuilder for $250,000, which is half of Fulton's balance.
In 2006, Fulton pledged $3 million to Queen Creek for parks, traffic signals and a library.
"They're using our library, they're using our roads, they're using our town facilities and so it was a buy-in to a certain degree," Councilman Robin Benning said.
In return, Queen Creek officials agreed to halt annexation plans for Fulton's planned Ironwood Crossing subdivision at Ocotillo and Ironwood roads.
