Homebuilders remain active in Gilbert

In a time when most communities' officials would give their eye teeth to get even one new home construction project started, Gilbert is seeing several starting to roll, including a new Shea Homes development. Shea is holding its grand opening of model homes Saturday, Oct. 16, in its Foothills at Layton Lakes at Queen Creek and Lindsay roads. Other new Gilbert housing projects include another Shea Spaces development at Riggs and Powers roads and Meritage Homes's Lyon's Gate at Ray and Higley roads. Shea sales Vice President Ken Peterson said Shea at Layton Lakes will develop 42 home sites, "blending traditional exteriors with some modern loft and euro-style interiors."
