Bidwill 'skyscraper' land reverts to lender
Three years ago the Bidwill family, who owns the Arizona Cardinals, paid $55 million for farmland just south of University of Phoenix Stadium and unveiled plans for a 40-story office tower, hotel, organic farm and brownstones.
The Arizona Republic penned a front-page story on the Bidwill development, dubbed “cbd101.” The city of Glendale approved zoning changes.
The city hoped the development would help the West Valley become more of an employment center and commercial hub. Projections were for the project to create as many as 23,000 jobs. The 40-story tower would have been the tallest building in Arizona and the economic impact billions of dollars each year.
