Arizona tops October construction gains

Arizona and Texas added the most construction jobs between September and October while Florida and Minnesota landed on the losing end. That’s according to the Associated General Contractors of America, which reports that the industry gained jobs in 29 states in the month-to-month tally. Year-to-year, however, only 11 states and the District of Columbia saw increases, based on data the group reviewed from the U.S. Department of Labor. As a result, the group says the industry’s employment situation remains volatile. “The new figures continue a nearly year-long trend of ups and downs in construction employment as the industry performs stimulus-funded work yet grapples with broad market uncertainty,” AGC said.
