What the new year has in store for Pinal County

The start of a new year brings with it a host of new opportunities Today Publications spoke with Pinal County Communications Manager Heather Murphy about what Pinal County has to look forward to in the new year. First off, Murphy noted a few issues involving the federal government, as well as the county. She explained that the county is still searching for funding for Hunt Hwy. improvements and waiting on legislation regarding Resolution Copper's land exchange in Superior. She was hopeful that 2011 would see movement on both topics. However, she went on to say perhaps the biggest news for the San Tan Valley area in 2011 will be the opening of the San Tan Valley Health Clinic across the street from Banner Ironwood Medical Center just south of Combs on Gantzel Rd. "One of the things the county has had on its horizon for a while is to improve access to health services," said Murphy, "With all the growth in San Tan Valley there is currently a less than ideal amount of access to public health services." Currently the county is finalizing the deal for the Clinic, which it will own and operate. According to Pinal County Public Health Director Tom Schryer, the clinic's construction will be partially funded by the state with the building scheduled to open in the winter of 2011.
