Revised Scottsdale Waterfront tower hasn't removed acrimony

Scottsdale Waterfront LLC will have a fight on its hands when the city Planning Commission and council consider its request to modify development standards for a project seeking a 140-foot tall building that likely would house condominiums in downtown Scottsdale. The partnership between Starwood Capital and Golub and Co. last week submitted a revised request to modify development standards on the vacant parcel south of the Nordstrom parking garage and east of Goldwater Boulevard. Changes were made in response to feedback from residents of the nearby Villa Adrian community and the Waterfront condos, said Bruce Armstrong, senior vice president of Golub and Co. However, at least some Villa Adrian residents were not appeased by the revised request. "This has really upset the entire neighborhood," said Pat Lamer, spokesman for Villa Adrian residents. "We would like to scream and yell in somebody's face if they would stand there and listen."
