Meritage Homes signs PVT Solar

Meritage Homes Corp. has signed a national agreement with PVT Solar Inc. to supply the home builder with solar systems. Scottsdale-based Meritage (NYSE:MTH) had been using Berkeley, Calif.-based PVT’s Echo system on homes it was building in the Valley but decided to take the units to homes it is building in other states as well. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The systems were part of 17 energy-efficient communities Meritage rolled out last year, and officials said adding solar to the homes as well as making them more energy efficient is paying off in a challenging market. PVT touts its Echo system as more efficient than standard photovoltaic solar systems. The company says the units convert both light and heat to help homes. Custom home builder Joseph Carl Homes also uses the system.
