Peoria, Buckeye adult communities rank high in sales

Two West Valley communities - Trilogy at Vistancia in northern Peoria and Sun City Festival in Buckeye - led in sales and closings among active adult communities in 2010. Shea Homes reported 137 sales at Trilogy at Vistancia in 2010, which leads the pack among the 10 active adult communities under construction in Arizona. Del Webb's Sun City Festival closed on the most sales: 119 closings compared with 118 at the Vistancia's 55-and-older community, according to RL Brown Housing Reports. Festival is bolstered by the Del Webb reputation and continual market clout, while Trilogy was able to use its surroundings to attract its residents, Brown said. The desert ambience and the growth of Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road contributed to Trilogy's success. Brown said the Northwest Valley has come into its own"Had the recession not occurred, the Northwest Valley would probably be rivaling Mesa and Gilbert in housing development," Brown said. "The opening of the (Loop) 303 is going to be huge for the market."
