Recession pushes back Loop 303 timeline in West Valley
Surprise hopes for a destination retail and commercial corridor on its Loop 303 frontage. Glendale,
and Peoria largely seek an employment base.
All four West Valley cities look to Loop 303 as a catalyst for growth that is business and employment driven
rather than housing driven.
But the recession has pushed back private developers' plans. And before the march west picks up again, many
of the vacancies east of Loop 303 likely will have to be absorbed.
"Unfortunately, we're all in the grips of the same economy," Glendale Planning Director Jon Froke said.
"That area will develop, but it's just going to be a different timeline."
