Arizona construction employment increases by 1,900
Construction employment in Arizona increased by 1,900 workers during the past year, according to an analysis conducted by the Associated General Contractors of America.
Much of that increase came in the last month with 1,800 positions being added, or an increase of 1.6 percent in the construction workforce. Arizona ranks 16th in terms of the percentage of jobs added during the 12-month period ending in June, according to information from the Arlington, Va.-based AGC.
Construction employment declined in 27 states in the past 12 months. The worst losses in terms of total workers was Georgia, which lost 10,600 construction jobs. The most jobs added occurred in Texas with 26,000 new construction jobs, according to the AGC.
Texas, however, lost 400 jobs between May and June. As a percentage of increase, North Dakota ranked first for most jobs added with a year increase of 17.3 percent, according to the AGC
