More Energy Star homes on tap for Surprise’s Marley Park

Mattamy Homes announced plans to build 50 new single-family homes in Surprise’s Marley Park by April 2012. The homes will vary between 2,000 to 3,5000 square feet with two- and three-car garages and prices begin at $180,000. They also will feature Energy Star Version 3 appliances, Energy Star’s newest technologies, which can save homeowners $400 to $600 in energy bills each month. “There’s a big difference walking through a home that doesn’t have all of these features,” said Carolyn Morrison, vice president of operations for Mattamy Homes in Arizona. The new homes are available in five designs as either one- or two-story levels, and will include lofts, dens and flex spaces. Mattamy Homes and Energy Star opened their first neighborhood in February at Marley Park, followed by a second neighborhood in June at Goodyear’s Canyon Trails. “This has been a very well-received program,” Morrison said. “People see these homes as a great way to save money and to own a more efficient and comfortable home compared to what’s on the market today.” Founded in 1978, Mattamy Homes now has communities in Arizona, Minnesota, the Carolinas and Canada.
