Superstition Vistas Comprehensive Plan amendment under review

The Pinal County Planning and Zoning Commission will review a comprehensive plan amendment submitted by the Arizona State Land Department in June 2011 to finalize the Superstition Vistas planning area. The plan aims to best utilize the parcel in respect to density, sustainability, transportation and housing. After much deliberation, this is the official project area of the Superstition Vistas Project. This amendment makes several modifications to the sections of the 2009 Pinal County Comprehensive Plan pertaining to the 275 square mile Superstition Vistas Planning Area. Following the required 60-day public comment period, the County has scheduled two public meetings in September. The meetings are scheduled on Sept. 14, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. and Sept. 15 at 9:00 a.m. at the Pinal County Government Complex, located at 31 N. Pinal Street, Florence, AZ Building F. This Comprehensive Plan Amendment includes 275 square miles of Arizona State Trust land commonly known as Superstition Vistas located in north central Pinal County. In 2003, several organizations came together under the leadership of the East Valley Partnership, to form the Superstition Vistas Steering Committee, combining resources to explore the future development potential of Superstition Vistas.
