Morrison Ranch apartments plan is back
A luxury apartment complex approved for Morrison Ranch in 2008 is back on the table.
Highland Groves Luxury Apartments would offer 228 units on the northeastern corner of Elliot Road and Beebe Street, next to Mission Community Church and Big League Dreams, according to plans reviewed Thursday by the Gilbert Design Review Board.
The site is surrounded on the northern and western sides by about 450 homes in the Highland Groves at Morrison Ranch subdivision.
The 14-acre parcel is zoned for multi-family housing, and developer Scott Morrison is seeking reapproval from the board for the project's architecture and design.
The complex includes 33 two-story apartment buildings designed in an "Arizona farmhouse" style, a clubhouse and a pool area, according to site plans.
A clubhouse mailroom would be built to look like a silo, reflecting the area's agricultural roots, and apartment floor plans would include one-, two- or three-bedroom options, according to the plans.
The Design Review Board unanimously approved the project in February 2008, but that approval expired after two years because work on the project never began.
The new application is identical to the initial proposal, and board members indicated they would have no problem reapproving the project.
