Discounted taxes are not what we were promised

So here is an explanation of what really transpired at the most recent Planning and Zoning meeting. Not only did the Curis proposal receive an unfavorable recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission on either of the two submitted applications, but of the 215 people who filled out cards at the hearing, 63 people filled out cards to speak for Curis, only 22 of those people were actual Town residents who did not testify to actually being paid by Curis. An astounding 145 people filled out cards to speak against the toxic and risky mine. Of those, 137 were town residents not paid by anyone to take time out of their lives and day to be there. To put it simply, more than six times as many people who are directly impacted Florence residents are opposed to this project compared to those who support it. In addition, virtually every large landowner within miles has expressed their opposition to the project, whose holdings total more than 16,000 acres.
