Desert Ridge in northeast Phoenix falls short of original master plan

The Desert Ridge master-planned community has marked the 21st year since the Phoenix City Council approved plans for the 5,700-acre development in northeast Phoenix. But a combination of factors, especially the recent economic slowdown, has resulted in a project in which as much has gone wrong as has gone right. Currently, the entire project seems to be on hold, and is far from what developers originally imagined.
