Shea Homes rolling out 'net zero' homes for active adults

Shea Homes Active Adult Communities locally and nationally will offer “net zero” homes as a standard feature starting this week. Net zero means that a home generates as much power as it consumes. Shea has named the new homes SheaXero. Previously Shea Homes Active Adult Communities, including its Trilogy collection, have offered net zero as an option that could cost around $25,000 per home. Rick Andreen, president of Shea Homes Active Adult Communities, said the new standard feature will add about $5,000 to the cost of a home in the Phoenix area. The two communities locally that are participating in the program are Trilogy at Vistancia in Peoria and Encanterra Country Club in the San Tan Valley.
