Construction begins on Tanger outlet mall in Glendale

Construction is now under way on a new Tanger outlet mall slated for Glendale. Set to open this fall, Tanger Outlet Center Westgate will be a 328,000-square-foot outlet mall with 85 stores. Names of the retailers to occupy the project have not yet been announced. The project is expected to create 900 full- and part-time jobs. The open-air center will be located near the Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue and is within walking distance of Westgate City Center, Jobing.com Arena and the University of Phoenix Stadium. Work is expected to start immediately and the first phase of the project is expected to open this fall. “When Westgate was originally envisioned, planned and zoned, we anticipated large-scale retail development adjacent to the Loop 101 freeway and Sports and Entertainment District,” said Glendale City Manager Ed Beasley in a statement. “The hundreds of thousands of visitors, who come here each year, now have another destination attraction with the opening of the new Tanger Outlet Center Westgate.”
