Queen Creek looking to upgrade town center

Both small and large changes to the appearance of Queen Creek's town center are under way as the community takes advantage of new business investment and helps smaller commercial-property owners improve what they have. Big changes include a proposed 84,000-square-foot Banner Health Center medical office building planned for the area west of the Queen Creek Library on Ellsworth Loop Road, south of the Queen Creek Marketplace shopping center. Phase I of the project would contain 23,000 square feet. The project will go before the town's planning commission for possible approval in March or April, said Wayne Balmer, community-development planning manager, adding that if it's approved, the project "should move forward fairly quickly." "This would be a new use in the town center," Balmer said, adding the project would be "hospital light" and would not include space for keeping patients overnight.
